It’s been wonderful to safely return to school with our RSG! students and mentors! Supporting educators with providing supplemental teaching has been humbling, and it’s energizing to witness youth activate their bodies and nourish their minds.

The youth are yearning to be exposed to the many possibilities their life can take, and that’s why we believe mentorship is so important. They have the opportunity to train, question, and learn from Olympians and Paralympians who have mastered their body and mind. The immersive and inclusive sessions are filled with lifelong best practices to build a fulfilled life and strong community.

We are most proud of the social-emotional learning (SEL) topics because the mind is the most impactful piece in all of us. We’ve taught our four main SEL topics listed below:

GROWTH MINDSET: The belief that one’s abilities can grow with effort.

SELF-EFFICACY: The belief in one’s own ability to succeed in achieving an outcome or reaching a goal.

SELF-MANAGEMENT: The ability to regulate one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively in different situations.

SOCIAL AWARENESS: The ability to take the perspective of and empathize with others from diverse backgrounds and cultures, to understand social and ethical norms for behavior, and to recognize family, school, and community resources and supports.

This season we welcomed Oak Hills Elementary School as our newest RSG! member. They were joined by track and field Paralympian Cody Jones.

Our other pairings included Olympians Tasha Danvers at ICEF View Park and John Moffet at Chaparral Elementary. In addition, we had our favorite mother/daughter duo, Olympian Roslyn Clark and Paralympian Breanna Clark, at Trinity Elementary.

We’re thrilled to continue our mission with schools to share the importance of the mind and body connection with our dynamic RSG! mentors.

It’s never too late to register your school or class to participate!
