The summer collaboration between Ready, Set, Gold and Great Public Schools Now, which connects LA's sports teams with Los Angeles Unified elementary/middle schools and the City Recreation & Parks department to provide students with engaging sports programming and experiences, has recently come to an end.

Six professional sports teams in the LA region participated including: Dodgers, Rams, Giltinis, Chargers, Sparkers, and Galaxy.

Along with the professional sports teams, five RSG! Olympians and Paralympians played an incremental role in the implementation of the summer program:

  • David Brinton, Olympian
  • Tasha Danvers, Olympian
  • Kim Glass, Olympian
  • Allen James, Olympian
  • Cody Jones, Paralympian

In just four weeks during this summer, impact was created at a mass scale.

🏫 79 schools participated

🎒 2,010 students engaged

💯 100% Title 1 schools

A foundational principle of RSG! has been to support those who need it most, which is why we are so passionate about providing meaningful opportunities for Title 1 schools and students. The intent of the Title I program is to meet the educational needs of children in low-income households and children in local institutions for neglected or delinquent children. Participants include students who are at risk of failing, disabled, and English Learners. We are grateful for the chance to connect inspiring Olympians and Paralympians to this group.

We love to hear from the students, teachers, and athlete mentors and reading testimonials like these help bring the positive impact to life.

Student Testimonial

“I’m going to be an Olympic gymnast one day; I train a lot to perfect my sport but today you taught me that my mental health is just as important for me to reach for my dreams.” - Student from Miller Elementary School with Olympian Tasha Danvers

Teacher Testimonial

“I’ve never been introduced to a program like Ready, Set, Gold! Our kids need programs like this to strengthen the foundation of teamwork, goal setting and healthy habits.” - Teacher at Vermont Avenue Elementary

Athlete Mentor Testimonial

“As an Olympian it is important that we pass along our lessons to the next generation. Sport gives you confidence and I want to make that more of a conversation so our youth can find confidence through sport.” - Olympian, Tasha Danvers

We look forward to our continued partnership with GPSN, amplifying the belief in students that they can achieve their Olympic sized dreams.
