The excitement of summer is contagious as students and teachers take a well-deserved break. RSG! has learned so much this past school year! We learned a new way of connecting with and educating students. We’ve formed stronger bonds with the sports community so we can excel together. Our valuable lessons learned have made a meaningful impact on the RSG! programming.
Recently, we had amazing opportunities to partner with pioneering organizations in our community to build the range of expertise to the RSG! students.
We’ve continued to build upon our impactful partnership with the 100 Mile Club. Since 1993, the 100 Mile Club has reached 1.5 million students nationwide to share the joy of physical activities. BJ Walker, National Program Director states, “This year, 100 Mile Club schools have loved partnering with Ready, Set, Gold!, helping students to see the many benefits of physical activity while working out with Olympians and Paralympians through their wonderful video series. We’re especially excited to now join together, in person, at Condit Elementary in Claremont, CA, a longstanding and favorite 100 Mile Club school!” The visit at Condit was engaging and impactful, as students were engaged and asking questions about goals, college, and swim records. RSG! Mentor John Moffett joined the student’s winning team by receiving a 100 Mile Club T-shirt and medal.
Olympian and RSG! mentor Giddeon Massie went to Rancho Dominguez High School with USA Triathlon to challenge 50 students on their endurance and mindset. They took an inward exploration to discover why and how feedback is given. The students and mentors created a safe space to discuss how to learn from failure. The students got active in a game where they focused on quick transitions, just as you would do in a triathlon!
UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind joined us at Rosemont Middle School to talk in-depth about centering yourself through meditation. All was calm until Olympian and RSG! mentor Tasha Danvers surprised the students! Together, Danvers led the school in movement and breathwork exercises.
It’s never too late to register your class, school, or district for RSG! programming.
