We’re off to the races – with RSG! mentor supervision of course! [wink-eye emoji]. April brought the heat to LA, the perfect conditions to get active and connect with RSG! Mentors Prince Mumba and Samantha Bosco.

Prince Mumba is a 2x Track and Field Olympian specializing in the 800 meter race. Mumba is a soccer player as well! He represents Zambia as their defense midfielder. As a double-hyphenated elite athlete, he's passionate about sharing his life’s lessons with youth so they can be their best selves. “RSG! allows me to help the schools maintain a positive image and guide students to do the same. I want to help students live positive lives and believe in themselves,” Mumba remarked.

The 5th grade students of Foshay Learning Center completed five sessions with Mumba, working their way through endurance to strength training. See their session topics below!

Samantha Bosco is a 2x Paralympic cyclist, Former World Champion, 3x ParaPan Am champion, 14x National Champion and California State Champion. Bosco continues to rack up the medals by recently placing 1st at the U.S. Paralympics Cycling Open. This win is extra special as Bocso suffered a major injury, which caused her to back out of the 2022 Paralympic Games to heal. Since then, she has recovered and is back stronger than ever, winning gold!

Bosco had her third visit to Mountain View Elementary School, where she shared how she overcame her past and recent obstacles to win gold at the 2022 U.S. Paralympics Cycling Open. Then, Bosco and her mentees had fun in the grass by completing a track and field day consisting of four stations, including relays and hurdles. Bosco couldn’t resist the opportunity and participated in the games!

We’re thankful for Prince Mumba and Samantha Bosco for sharing their expertise, the schools for welcoming us and the students for their drive.
