Right now, my mindset is to kind of take everything one day at a time, one step at a time...”

—Simone Biles (Olympic Gymnast)

Did you know one of the hardest things to start is a routine, especially a workout routine? You definitely want to exercise but aren’t motivated or are intimidated.

Why is this?

One major reason is because you’re not taking things one step at a time (like Simone Biles does).

Starting a workout routine at home can be tough. Really tough. You might even make excuses not to work out that sound something like, “I’m too tired” or “I don’t have time.”

This is why you need to take things one step at a time, especially starting a workout routine, because it will make the process a lot easier and manageable.

We at Ready, Set, Gold! are here to show you how to get started with an at-home workout routine. Right now.

Ready, set...let’s begin!

1. Schedule your workout

Add your workout to your phone’s calendar, notes, or to your planner. Whatever you do, just schedule it. You’re more likely to actually work out because you’ve committed to it (like you would an appointment, school, work, etc.).

2. Lay your workout clothes out the night before

This includes your shirt, shorts/pants, socks, shoes and whatever else you need. Lay everything at the end of your bed, on a chair or on your couch (if you’re working out in your living room).

By laying out your workout clothes the night before, you’re guaranteed to get dressed and be ready!

3. Pick where you want to work out

Do you live in an apartment? House? Either way, you want to find a space that gives you room to move around freely during your workout. That may end up being your living room or even your bedroom.

Have a yard or access to a park? Take your workout outside on nice days!

4. Choose the type of workout

What are you most interested in? Gaining muscle? Losing weight? Increasing flexibility? All three? Whatever you pick, focus on that first.

Remember: One step at a time.
